When an Online Gaming Site Will Not Pay Out

Families sometimes discover that a parent or grandparent has money stuck on an online gaming or betting site. Some of these cases are ordinary delays. Others are the final stage of a scam. Telling them apart quickly protects whatever has not yet been lost.

Ordinary reasons a withdrawal is held

Signs that it is not ordinary

The fee demand is the clearest signal. It is the "pay in a specific way" and "act now" pattern described in the four signs of a scam.

What to do

  1. Stop depositing. Do not pay any fee to release funds.
  2. Take screenshots of the account balance, the withdrawal request, and every message.
  3. Read the site's published withdrawal rules and compare them with what you are being told.
  4. If money was sent by card or bank transfer, contact the bank the same day.
  5. Report it, and call a fraud helpline for guidance on next steps.

For Chinese-speaking families

Much of the detailed player-written material on this subject is in Chinese. One practical example is a Traditional Chinese checklist of four things to confirm before requesting a withdrawal (娛樂城出金前先看4件事), which covers verification, wagering conditions and typical review times from a player's side.
